SAS(Self Assessment System)
  • SAS (Self Assessment System) Taxpayer's self-assessment system is a system in which taxpayers calculate and pay taxes by themselves without the intervention of the tax officer or with minimal intervention of the income they have earned or collected.

  • In the OAS (Office Assessment System) system calculated by the tax office, the taxpayer submits the income declaration form to the tax office; tax office assessment; receiving notice of assessment from the tax authority; According to the amount of tax in the notification, tax service activities need to be carried out step by step.

  • In the SAS (Self Assessment System) taxpayer self-assessment system, the taxpayer fills out his income declaration form and submits it to the Internal Revenue Department before the specified date. Paying taxes must be carried out.

  • The statistics and records required to support the tax declaration must be kept for a specified period of time for tax audits and must follow the audit guidelines.

  • The tax office will consider the complete and correct declaration form submitted by the taxpayer as tax, and no further tax will be levied on the taxpayer. However, only the notice and the tax invoice stating the amount of assessment submitted by the taxpayer will be sent to the taxpayer. It will show the amount already paid.

  • In the self-assessment system, the taxpayer appeals the self-assessed amount; If a taxpayer's assessment is amended as part of the audit process by the Department of Internal Revenue, where an amendment is not possible, the taxpayer may appeal the amendment.

  • Large taxpayers operating with the SAS system; In case of medium taxpayers, the payment up to Kyat (15) lakhs, withholding tax (pre-deducted tax from the principal) tax is not withheld, and the WHT 2% paid at the time of exportation has been relaxed.

  • In the OAS system, if the payment exceeds 500,000 Kyats, WHT tax must be deducted and submitted at the relevant tax rate.
